You know you gonna like the collaboration just by hearing the names attached to it. Big Freedia has teamed up with “Boys” singer Lizzo to deliver the sure to be new banger “Karaoke“, along with a music video for the single.
The song opens up strong, with singer Big Freedia (‘Queen Diva’), calling out “showtime/summer shine” and hopping on the track like a pro. Following soon after is Lizzo’s fabulous vocals that introduce the pre-chorus of the track and lay the basis for the duo’s explosive chorus.
“Work it, work it, work it, work it, now” they chant and twerk on the beach, putting a spin on this already mesmerizing track. Big Freedia’s New Orleans heritage is in full display in this bounce-rap offering that samples the singer’s trademark sound.
Lizzo is always on point, with her bubbling personality accompanied by her equally impressive vocal talent. The singer, who has just got off Haim‘s The Sister Sister Sister Tour, is enjoying some well-deserved visibility, that hopefully will put her more on the spotlight and give her the chance to collaborate with other big names from the music industry.
Big Freedia, who does not need any introduction in the old French Quarter, is slowly getting the recognition she deserves after having helped develop the bounce genre, a trademark sound of the New Orleans’ music scene, that mostly imitates the ‘Drag Rap’ sample.
After having dropped her EP 3rd Ward Bounce early this year, and fresh off her recent feature on Drake‘s hit “Nice For What“, Big Freedia is finally ready to make it big. Watch out for these two Divas, because you will definitely hear more from them.
