Björk’s new album Vulnicura wasn’t due to be released until March 2015, but it has reportedly leaked onto the internet already, less than a week after being announced. The nine-track album isn’t the first major 2015 release to be leaked prematurely. Unfinished tracks from Madonna’s Rebel Heart appeared last month, which prompted the singer to release six songs early and move up the release date of the entire album. This ease of information-sharing causes massive problems for all involved in the production process, and doesn’t seem to stop in its apathy for privacy and protection. Some argue that the artist doesn’t lose money, and that sharing may never cease, but the record companies will find other ways to make money so not all is lost.
