Brooklyn rapper Bobby Shmurda is officially a free man! After serving six long years in prison, he was released from Clinton Correctional Facility in New York this week.

However according to the head of department at the correctional facililty, the 26 year old artist “will serve the remainder of his sentence under community supervision until his maximum expiration date of February 23, 2016″.

The charges that led Bobby to jail back in 2014 include conspiracy of second and third degree, numerous criminal possession of weapons, reckless endangerment and criminal possession of the illegal drug paraphernalia.

Before Shmurda’s release, Quavo from rap group Migos had announced that he was going to pick him up from prison, and a video was released on 2cool2bl0g’s Instagram page, showing Bobby on a private jet not long after being freed with the caption, “#BobbySmurda Almost home 👀 They picking him up in a jet”.

To coincide with his release, Bobby Shmurda has also been awarded three certification plaques by the RIAA, including two platinum plaques for his hit tracks “Hot N***a” and “Bobby B***h”, and one gold certification for his debut EP Shmurda She Wrote.

Shmurda’s right hand mad and co-defendants, Rowdy Rebel, who was freed from prison in December last year, teased Bobby’s release last week on social media and in interviews, revealing that the duo would be making an appearance at this year’s Hot 97 Summer Jam festival.

Now that Bobby is free, new music and a possible documentary should be on the horizon.
