The first trailer has arrived for The Glass Castle, a family drama set to star Brie Larson and re-team her with Short Term 12 director Destin Daniel Cretton.
The film is based on the best-selling memoir by Jeannette Wells, and follows Jeannette as a young girl growing up in poverty with a family constantly on the move. The memoir was adapted for the screen by Wells and Andrew Lanham (The Shack), and the film will star Woody Harrelson and Naomi Watts alongside Larson.
The trailer doesn’t necessarily offer a glimpse at anything groundbreaking, but these kinds of dramas are very hard to judge from the trailer alone. Who would have guessed that Short Term 12 would have been the work of art it was from its first clips, for example?
Check out the trailer below:
The film is set to be released Friday, August 11. Will it be the affecting drama that the Larson-Cretton combo gave us last time, or another forgettable familial drama to add to the heap?
