The nominations for this year’s Brit Awards were announced today. Sam Smith dominates with five award nominations, including ‘British Male Solo Artist‘ and ‘British Album Of The Year‘, while Ed Sheeran is up for a total of four after achieving the biggest selling single and album of 2014. Another contender for multiple awards is George Ezra, the 21-year-old has had a meteoric rise in the past 12 months and is also up for four awards including ‘Best Breakthrough Act‘.
Strangely, there are no female contenders for the ‘British Album Of The Year Award‘, with the likes of Jessie Ware and Ellie Goulding being overlooked for albums by Royal Blood, Alt-J and (yep, you guessed it) George Ezra, Sam Smith and Ed Sheeran. The ceremony takes place on Wednesday, the 25th of February and will be broadcast live on ITV. Full nominees list are below.
