UK duo GeeJay – AKA Gina Jane and Jacob Lobo – have released a brand new song titled “Ordinary Girl”.
The song, which was produced by the dup and engineered by Grammy nominated mixer Clinton McCreery, is a soulful offering aiming to inspire and empower listeners to “live the life they want” and pursue their dreams. The track will be accompanied by a stunning mixed media animation video by Sanjana Chandrasekhar, to be released on August 20.
Gee, the vocalist and songwriter of the duo, says that she grew in a remote part of Wiltshire where people tended to stay local. She decided to follow her own quest and now she’s writing her own story.
Jay, producer and saxophonist, leaves a comment about not losing sight of your own dreams and your focus. Even with everything going up in flames, he brings a message of hope and claims that all he want is to keep on making music and playing live.
The duo met in London when they were both working as baristas in a music café. They won the Yamaha ‘Funk It Up’ competition and the rest is history.
All we need to know is that the two of them bring the best out of each other, as they craft their unique sound combining Soul, Pop and Jazz with hip-hop beats. The strong, soulful and emotionally-charged vocals of Gee and the vintage, jazzy chords and beats from Jay blend together like magic.
