Reflecting on the inspiration behind the track, Miranda shares, “I wanted to break free of all that held me back; from past relationships, my surroundings, even my thoughts. I longed for something unpredictable, something as spontaneous as kissing a stranger.”
Hailing from Montréal, Miranda Joan finds her muse in a spectrum of artists, ranging from legends like Bill Withers, Stevie Wonder, and Carole King to contemporary icons like Anderson Paak, Dragon, and Robyn. 2021 was a significant year for Miranda as she not only released her debut album, Windborne, but also earned a spot as one of the First Up with RBCxMusic Emerging Artists.
Besides her solo endeavors, Miranda’s vocal prowess has been sought after by major artists such as The Killers, Shawn Mendes, Lorde, Kylie Minogue, and Andy Grammar. Beyond her musical pursuits, she champions empowerment as the co-host and co-founder of Brooklyn’s Femme Jam and dedicates her time mentoring with the non-profit, The Stuttering Association for Young People.
On August 18, 2023, following the unveiling of “Kiss A Stranger,” Miranda introduced her forthcoming album, produced alongside Ben Carr, popularly known as Carrtoons. Titled “Overstimulated”, the album, set for a November 10 release, promises a rich blend of jazz and soul, an amalgamation of instrumental, acoustic, and electronic elements.
“It’s an album anchored in songs of affirmation, of grounding oneself. Interspersed are reflections on my aspirations, imagination, love, and heartaches, painting a vivid and intricate tapestry of my emotions,” says Miranda.
