Bruce Springsteen has confirmed the release date for his Western Stars film that he directed alongside an old-time collaborator Thom Zimny. The movie takes the same name as his 2019 album – his first project in five years – and will debut on October 25. The singer also announced the accompanying soundtrack featuring a Glen Campbell cover.
The awaited film will follow Springsteen performing all thirteen teen tracks from his Western Stars album, backed by an orchestra at Stone Hill Farm in Colts Neck, New Jersey. The film was first seen at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival, and it features special guest Patti Scialfa.
Columbia Records will drop Western Stars – Songs From The Film, encompassing the live performances that we will listen to on the Western Stars film, which also serves as Bruce Springsteen’s directorial debut. The soundtrack also includes every track from the artist’s most recent studio album of the same name, alongside a cover of “Rhinestone Cowboy” by the singer Glen Campbell.
Springsteen and Ron Aniello were in charge of producing the Western Stars – Songs From The Film soundtrack album with the audio mastered by Bob Ludwig and mixed by Bob Clearmountain, well known as the legendary duo behind Springsteen On Broadway. You can pre-order the soundtrack album from today, September 27, go to www.brucespringstreen.net for more information.
