Cambridge Folk Festival presents CITY ROOTS, a festival taking place in February of this year which embraces the essential spirit of festivals, strengthening the link between folk and roots music and the City of Cambridge. It launched late last year as a companion event to the much-loved Cambridge Folk Festival and now, this year, it stands on its own.
The headliners of the first ever CITY ROOTS festival come in the shape of internationally-renowned Malian singer songwriter, Salif Keita, confirmed as the closing headliner at the Corn Exchange for the new event. Joining him is previously announced Transatlantic Sessions as part of a varied line up, of which you can see in full, with dates and venues, here.
The aim is to create a culture of collaboration within the arts in Cambridge, partnering with venues and supporting artists and groups of all sizes and levels of experience. CITY ROOTS is a key part of this collaboration, building on the success and popularity of Cambridge Folk Festival, and you can find more specifically on the former here.
