A rising newcomer and indisputably British talent, Casey Lowry is at the turning point of his career. He continues with the momentum following the rapid success of recent single “Roam“, with “You Told Me You Loved Me“, his second release of 2019.
“You Told Me You Loved Me” is the culmination of who Casey is as both an artist and a songwriter. Known for his candid lyrics, his new track is remarkably raw, refreshing and delightfully melodic. Spirited, guitar-led instrumentation is contrasted by lyrics on mental health, the problems and social pressures that come with it. More sombre than what fans may be used to.
On the new release Casey explains “Ex’s can really hurt. They’ve been your best friend and support network and without them in your life it can be really hard. When you see them with someone else you’re obviously going to feel it and men have this tendency of bottling it all up past their limit, we should stop doing that and be emotional when we need to. It’s okay not to be okay.”
Music has always been in Casey’s DNA. He wrote his first ever song “Trampoline” at 14. That song has now been playlisted at Radio 1 and has racked up more than 500,000 streams. His debut EP garnered attention from the likes of Wonderland, Dork and Clash, adding to his growing accolade of praise.
Casey maintains all the key qualities of a star in the making. With each release revealing another layer, he chooses to take the long way around, crafting new music entirely on his own terms.
