Fierce South West London grime MC and young burgeoning talent Cassie Rytz has dropped her high-energy new single “Shell“.
Cassie’s seamless, high-octane flow is complimented by the heavy grime beat that underpins “Shell”. A notable member of the Girls of Grime movement, her commanding, rapid-fire delivery is the essence of someone exuding confidence far beyond her years. The track comes with a similarly rousing video, demonstrating Cassie’s powerful presence in action. The visuals are a perfect pairing for the 18-year-old’s hard-hitting lyrics.
Cassie incorporates a blend of grime, bashment and afro-swing to create her unique sound. Starting out with Instagram freestyles back in school, it wasn’t long before she attracted the attention of noteworthy London radio stations Reprezent and Rinse FM. BBC 1Xtra sessions with the legendary Sir Spyro and speaking opportunities in Parliament soon followed and it was surely uphill from there.
Her potential has since caught the attention of BBC3, who included both her and “Shell” in their six-part reality show Galdem Sugar, intending to shed light on the underrepresented female voices in the male-dominated music industry. ‘Shell’ exemplifies a promising young grime artist with an abundance of raw talent and is out now.
