Canadian diva Céline Dion is back to the game with three new singles she has released from her upcoming album Courage, which will come out on November 15.
On Wednesday morning, the 51-year-old iconic star announced she would be releasing her twelfth English-language studio album in two months, following her 2013 release Love Me Back to Life.
Meanwhile, Dion has decided to tease her fans by dropping three of the songs that will be included in her forthcoming LP, “Courage”, “Lying Down” and “Imperfections”. Céline already unveiled her single “Lying Down” during her Carpool Karaoke with James Corden a few months ago, but the other two have been a total surprise.
Written by Stephan Moccio, Liz Rodrigues and Erik Alcock, “Courage” is a song about reconstructing the pieces of your broken heart after you lose someone you love. The track is dedicated to her husband and manager, Réne Angélil, who passed away three years ago due to cancer.
“It’s there. It’s part of me. It’s part of my luggage. It is part of the transition. I don’t want that luggage to be heavy,” said Dion about her loss during a recent interview with USA TODAY. “I want that luggage to be giving me strength and courage and passion.”
“Imperfections” was written by Michael Pollack, Ari Leff, Nicholas Perloff-Giles and DallasK, who also produced it. It is a very intimate song where the singer opens up about the way she sees herself and discusses self-criticism. “I got my own imperfections/ I got my own set of scars to hide / I got my own imperfections/ I can’t hold your heart when I’m fixing mine.”
David Guetta, Sia and Giorgio Tuinfort are the iconic trio who wrote the third song, “Lying Down”. It is a heart-felt ballad about how sometimes you need to walk away and distance yourself from toxic relationships.
The album will also feature “Flying On My Own”, which she previously released and performed on her final show of her 16-year Las Vegas residency last June. However, the singer is now starting her Courage tour, kicking off with three nights in Quebec. The first concert starts on September 18 and she will continue on tour until the end of spring 2020.
