Bruno Pavlovsky, Chanel president of fashion, has told WWD that the brand (one of the last fashion ones standing at not offering E-Commerce), plans to launch in that space in some form by the end of next year. Chanel is one of the small groups that has strategically not allowed couture to be sold online (not even throw other retailers) because, according to Pavlovsky, in 2013, “fashion is about clothing you need to see, to feel, to understand“.
Aside of just offering licensed products like sunglasses, cosmetics, skincare and fragrances to be sold online previously, we will have to wait until next year to see how are they going to manage their e-commerce launch with being a luxury brand and offering, for a long time, an extra level of exclusivity to their customers, it will be interesting to see what kind of high fashion they will be providing at just a click away?
