In 2020, Chinese Danish rapper CXCX Chu Chu made her underground debut. Today, she surprises fans with the release of a double single that showcases her versatility across genres and delivers a powerful punch to those who have let her down in the industry.
“Medicine” is an energetic track, featuring vibrant instrumentation and a captivating vocal rhythm. CXCX Chu Chu’s flow and diverse background lend her music a truly global flavor. When she returned to Denmark in 2020 with only two mixtapes, her potential was quickly recognized.
Before even releasing a single, she made live appearances on P3 Vidundergrunden, at “Uniradioen praesenterer,” and at Spot Festival in 2022. Her dual role as both medicine and poison reflects her resilience in the face of abuse and deception during her initial encounters with the Danish hip-hop culture.
Camilla Chu Xu, who is of Danish and Chinese heritage, was raised in both countries as well as the Netherlands. She studied in the Netherlands and Canada and found her passion for hip-hop in Vancouver after making it to the finals of the TV competition Rap of China.
Returning to Denmark in 2020, she quickly gained recognition in the industry. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, 2021 seemed promising with a new producer/manager and a plethora of song demos. Unfortunately, the producer proved to be dishonest and exhibited aggressive behavior.
Chu started from scratch once more, this time leaving behind the demos. While attending a musician network during the pandemic, she met a well-known individual who invited her to a summer home with a group of other hip-hop artists to create music.
