Not deterred by the critical and commercial flop of Blackhat earlier this year, iconic director Michael Mann already has a new project in the planning stages – a biopic of sports car creator and pioneer of F1 racing Enzo Ferrari, a passion project for the director that he has been trying to get made for close to 15 years.
Now, he firmly has an actor in the driving seat (pun definitely intended): Christian Bale, who he has worked with previously in 2009’s Public Enemies. The film is still firmly an independent production in search of a studio, likely due to the high-profile flop Mann recently released. But with Bale on board, expect this to be changing gear from “in development” to “in production” sometime soon.
