Rapper Cormega comes out with Gunplay in “Guns And Butter”. The former is a onetime rival of rap king Nas, both from Queensbridge New York, though the two buried the hatchet some years back. The track is heartfelt one, and seems to despair of gun culture, rather than glorifying it. The musical backdrop is a soulful one, and there are strings to give it that mournful quality, liking tugging on heartstrings. It is typical, seemingly, of the current New York sound, if you will, spearheaded by the likes of any Kanye West work related to the likes of Jay-Z, all since the early Noughties.
