A benefit concert for suicide prevention will take place on December 5 at the Friends Arena in Stockholm, Sweden, featuring the music of EDM’s international star Avicii.
Last year, the world lost one of the most talented DJs and music producers ever. Avicii died at the young age of 28 by suicide after having suffered mental health issues and stress for several years.
The Avicii Tribute Concert for Mental Health Awarness will feature 19 of the original singers on Avicii’s most popular songs and opening shows from many of his friends, including David Guetta, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Nicky Romero and Kygo.
Also, a 30-piece band will be accompanying Rita Ora, Adam Lambert, Alex Ebert and many other artists in a two-hour charity concert.
“Tim had plans for his music to be performed together with a large live band, and now we are realizing his dream and giving fans a chance to experience his music in this unique way. We are grateful that his friends, producers, artists and colleagues are coming to Stockholm to help.
They have all expressed a sincere interest and desire to engage in efforts to stem the tide of mental illness and lend their support to our work with the Tim Bergling Foundation,” Avicii’s father said in a statement.
He then added that “We are very much looking forward to this evening, which will be a starting point for the foundation’s work going forward… We want this concert to help put the topic on the agenda and pay attention to the stigma surrounding mental illness and suicide. Policies and tools are needed to detect the risks and prevent suicide, especially among young people.”
All the money raised from the benefit set will go to mental health and suicide prevention organisations. The tickets will go on sale September 5 at 10 a.m. CET, according to the organisers of the concert. Many other artists will be announced very soon but, meanwhile, you can find more information about the event and the line-up tickets here.
