US singer/songwriter and actor Demi Lovato recently announced that she has joined the cast of Eurovision, an upcoming Netflix comedy film based on the biggest European song contest.
On Tuesday, the international pop sensation was living her best life celebrating her 27th birthday at Ariana Grande’s concert in London. The artist was sharing some of her special day’s best bits through pictures and videos when she suddenly revealed the good news via one of her now co-stars video.
“We want to make a very special announcement about a brand-new cast member, and it just happens to be her birthday today. I made her this wonderful cake from scratch. So happy birthday! Yay”, Will Ferrell revealed before cutting to another clip that showed Demi blowing out her birthday candles.
The singer then posted the video on her Instagram profile to confirm the news, saying “y’all, Will Ferrell made me a cake…from scratch. It looks completely professional and store bought so I’m not at all suspicious that he baked it himself in all of his free time #netflixisajoke #eurovisionmovie”.
Eurovision will be directed by David Dobkin and, besides Ferrell and Lovato, Hollywood stars Rachel McAdams and Pierce Brosnan will also star in the forthcoming ‘musical’ comedy.
The film plot will follow the story of Lars Erickssong and Sigrit Ericksdottir, two wannabe musicians from Iceland who are suddenly given the opportunity to represent their country at Eurovision, the most important song contest in the whole world. Ferrell will play the role of Erickssong and McAdams will be her bandmate Ericksdottir.
Demi’s role in the film still remains a mystery, but fans are already really excited about the idea of seeing her acting again, since it has been nine years from her last appearance in a live-action movie. Hopefully, new details about her part in this promising new comedy will be revealed anytime soon!
