Blade Runner fans, get ready to lose your cool because the one and only Harrison Ford is confirmed to reprise his role as Rick Deckard in the up and coming sequel, with Prisoners director, Denis Villeneuve in negotiations to direct! News on the sequel had remained unconfirmed and speculated at for so long, it hardly feels real that this is finally all coming together, with the film scheduled to start principal photography summer 2016.
Original co-writer, Hampton Francher, has collaborated with Michael Green on an original screenplay, based on an idea from Francher and Ridely Scott. It is thought that the sequel will take place several decades since the end of the original 1982 film, which makes Ford at a perfect age to get back into the role.
It’s great that Ford is reprising his role, alongside his comeback as Hans Solo in the up-and-coming Star Wars flick, giving the sequel some immediate credit to be a great movie. With Prisoners under his belt, Villeneuve is a decent enough choice for director and while I’m unfamiliar with his other work, I’m certainly keen to see more for him! Check out the original trailer and let us know how you feel about the sequel news!
