Cherry blossoms are iconic in Japan, where millions of tourists head every year to enjoy their amazing pink display. This year, cherry blossoms featured in the Dior Haute Couture collection in Tokyo to celebrate the opening of Ginza Six, the capital’s new shopping complex.
The French fashion house presented the Spring/Summer 2017 collection, which was already showcased in Paris early this year, but with some new shapes expressly designed for this occasion.
The garden maze-inspired fashion show took place on the rooftop of Ginza Six where models walked through a dreamy, lush garden wearing fairy evening gowns in delicate nuances, ranging from pink to blue to mauve. The gorgeous flowers were also embroidered on gowns, jackets, long hooded capes, and coats.
Dior designer Maria Grazia Chiuri added some extra looks at the collection, clearly flaunting the cherry blossom inspiration. Moreover, Chiuri had in mind the Christian Dior 1953 “Jardin Japonais” dress, which nodded to the Hanami Festival celebrating the arrive of spring.
