Director Confirms ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3’ Coming In 2020 | Film News

While the MCU is looking towards both parts of Avengers: Infinity War as a huge turning point in the franchise, and has kept their cards close to their chest in terms of post-Infinity War releases, we do now know that Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 will be arriving in 2020, thanks to director James Gunn:

However, we don’t know the exact date, though Marvel currently has three dates staked out in 2020 for as-yet unknown films: May 1, August 7, and November 6. The May release date would be similar to Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2, which reeled in a hefty $863.7 million, but the August release would match the initial release date of the original film.

Gunn has said the third film will conclude the story of his iteration of the Guardians, though the films will probably continue with another director at the helm, and maybe a slightly different group. Because while Marvel has five films currently in production, they’re all set to arrive within the next year and a half, clearing the way for the huge finale of Infinity War Part 2.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has called the two part Infinity War event “a culmination” that will forever change the MCU, so Guardians Vol. 3 and all the other films to proceed that could look a lot different. As stars like Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans reach the end of their contracts, at least we know we’ve got one more Guardians team up left at least.
