Everyone’s favourite British Nanny is coming back to our screens as the O.G of childcare Mary Poppins flies back into hearts with Disney producing a sequel to the 1964 classic. The new film will use storylines from the series of books by author and creator P. L Travers, with the story “focusing on the magical nanny’s continued adventures with the Banks family” as she returns to number seventeen Cherry Tree Lane.
Entertainment Weekly reports that John DeLuca and Marc Platt will produce the film alongside Pirates of the Caribbean Director Rob Marshall, who successfully brought the Broadway hit Chicago to the big screen earning a ‘Best Picture’ award at the Academy Awards and $306 million worldwide.
Mary Poppins is a part of Disney’s continued plan of live-action revisits of their classic back catalogue with Beauty and the Beast currently in production, a planned prequel to Aladdin and an adaption of Fantasia’s Night on Bald Mountain currently in the works.
