After blowing audiences away with Frozen, Disney is taking to the sea with a new CG-animated feature titled Moana. Walt Disney Animation unveiled the sea-fairing Moana early on Monday (October 20), along with a brief synopsis, the team behind the film, a release date and concept art (to tease you even more). Disney announced that the directorial team behind this will be Ron Clements and John Musker.
The two have already made their mark on Disney films bringing us The Little Mermaid, Aladdin and The Princess and the Frog, which were all box office hits for Walt Disney. Clements said about the film, “creating ‘Moana’ is one of the great thrills of our career. It’s a big adventure set in this beautiful world of Oceania“. Moana is a dreamer who has set out on an adventure to find the fabled island to fulfil her ancestors. On her adventures she will encounter the legendary demi-god Maui, enormous sea creatures, underworlds and ancient folklore. Moana is set for release late 2016.
