Dua Lipa released her new video for “Swan Song”, which features in the new futuristic sci-fi film Alita: Battle Angel. The film is out in cinemas across the UK now and will release on 14 February in the US. A good Valentines date, if you’re both into sci-fi thrillers instead of traditional rom-coms!
The song’s video features a futuristic style Dua Lipa head to toe in costume in the style of the movie. It also features clips from the movie, but nothing that would give away too much.
“Swan Song” was directed by Floria Sigismondi, and speaking about the video, she said this:
“While in the film Alita is quite literally on a journey to discover who she is, her history serves as a really powerful allegory for any girl who doesn’t yet know her own power. I wanted to play with that same profound notion by dropping Dua into a facet of Akita’s world and allowing Alita to serve as a surrogate that lends her on a journey to discover she’s stronger than she could have imagined.”
As for Dua Lipa’s new rules for 2019, she had this to say:
“Working really hard to get my new album out. Those are the only rules that I’m gonna be living by. I’m just going to be in the studio making sure that I come back with some fun stuff for everyone.”
