Dua Lipa, Yungblud, Little Mix And Biffy Clyro Among 2021 BRIT Awards Nominees | Music News

Due to the coronavirus crisis, the BRIT Awards that usually takes place in February has been pushed back three months later, and the ceremony will now take place at London’s O2 Arena on May 11.

The artists who are in the running for the 2021 BRITs were announced on March 31 by Nick Grimshaw and this year’s BRITs Rising Star winner, Griff, on BBC Radio 1.

Dua Lipa, Arlo Parks, Celeste, Joel Corry, and the hip-hop group Young-T & Bugsey lead the list with three nominations each, in the different categories.

For the first time in the history of the BRIT Awards, four of the five albums nominated of the year are from female solo artists – Arlo Parks, Celeste, Dua Lipa, and Jessie Ware.

Dua Lipa’s nominated album, Future Nostalgia, was also nominated for a Grammy for album of the year. However, it lost faced to Taylor Swift’s Folklore.

Some artists might win their second awards for the British single. It is the case of Dua Lipa who won two years ago with her collaboration with Calvin Harris for “One Kiss.” If she wins this year, she will become the second female artist to win twice in this category after Adele.

Harry Style is also a nominee with his song “Watermelon Sugar” and could go for his second win in this category as well. He won in 2012 for “What Makes You Beautiful” when he was a part of One Direction.

Several nominees have already won in their category in the past. Foo Fighter as an international group won four times. The 1975 as a British group are two-time winners, and Dua Lipa already won in the female solo artist category in 2018.

In the international female artist, three of the nominees have already won in this category in the past. Billie Eilish won last year, Ariana Grande in 2019, and Taylor Swift in 2015. As for the international male artist, the only one who has won in the past is Bruce Springsteen in 1986.

Among the international group, we can’t help but notice that BTS is the first Korean group to be nominated for a BRIT Awards.

Yungblud will be running for the Male Solo Artist category against Joel Corry, J Hus, Headie One, and AJ Tracey. He shared on his Twitter account “I have watched the BRITs every year since I can remember.

It’s what makes the British music scene so rock n roll. I would watch Oasis and the Arctic Monkeys cause trouble, and I always wanted to be there, and now to be nominated is mental!!!

We will have to wait till May to see the final results but for now, here are the 2021 BRIT Award nominations.
