Lilith Merlot, a Dutch singer-songwriter known for her warm, deep, and rich voice, is set to release a live music video for her single “Easier To Fight.”
The single is lifted from her EP, Shades Of Blue, which has been available since May 26, 2023. Lilith has been recognized for her ability to enchant audiences with melodies and harmonies from a young age, which she has fine-tuned over years, eventually weaving through various genres including Jazz, Pop, and Soul.
The artist, who took Merlot as her stage name following a warm compliment from American singer Renée Neufville, blends influences from acclaimed artists such as Lizz Wright, Jeff Buckley, and Norah Jones, crafting a sound that is evocative of prominent names like Nina Simone, Amy Winehouse, and Madeleine Peyroux.
Since her debut EP release in 2017, Lilith has engaged listeners around the world, accumulating nearly 5 million streams across platforms.
Supported by Metal Magazine and receiving airplay across several stations under Netherlands public broadcaster NPO, Lilith has graced the radio waves of stations like NPO Soul & Jazz, NPO 3FM Radio, and more. Moreover, her music has resonated on Spotify, landing on the editorial playlist ‘Sad Covers.’
“Easier To Fight” serves as an expressive and timeless ballad, exploring the complex emotions experienced when entwined in a problematic relationship.
The live music video mirrors the song’s poignant and heartfelt nature, showcasing Merlot’s exquisite, emotionally drenched vocals alongside the delicate instrumentation of Wurlitzer keys and cello, performed by her producer Serge Dusault and cellist Jonas Pap, respectively.
Merlot, sharing insights about the video, expressed her determination to capture something purely live, where she believes “the magic happens.”
Shooting the video in Rotterdam, a city deeply intertwined with her musical journey, and opting for an outdoor setting, Lilith and her production team (Rauwkost Film) aimed to encapsulate the feeling of being “stuck in the twilight zone,” a sentiment that permeates the lyrical content of “Easier to Fight.”
The upcoming music video, promising to feature Lilith against a backdrop of stunning twilight hues, stands as a testament to her musical and emotional journey, inviting audiences to explore the deeply relatable terrain of love, conflict, and the contemplation that exists in between.
The audience will undoubtedly be looking forward to experiencing the visuals paired with the raw and genuine live rendition of the track.
