Young soap stars can’t stay young forever: often we see the same actor or actress grow up on a soap before our very eyes; but sometimes, they find themselves being re-cast in their roles. This is about to happen to the character of Jordan Johnson in EastEnders, as Jovian Wade (Rigsy in Doctor Who) takes over the role from Michael-Joel David. Fresh-faced David appeared in the soap for two years from 2008 – 2010, so expect to see a more mature-looking Jordan when 22 year old Wade arrives on the scene.
We last saw Jordan (Denise Fox’s step son) leave Albert Square in 2010 to live with his Aunt Gloria, after his father Lucas was imprisoned for murder. Wade is over the moon to be joining Walford’s finest: “Coming into EastEnders is an absolute dream. Jordan is going through a very tough time and needs people in his corner but with a Dad like Lucas will he be able to trust anyone? It’s going to be brilliant to play him and I can’t wait to get started”. No doubt, a lot has happened to troubled Jordan over the last 6 years – so watch out for his return … there’s bound to be a few fireworks involved.
