Ed Sheeran has recently formed a deal with Warner Music Group to create his own record label in hope to bring attention to a lot of new and upcoming musicians. The idea for his new label Gingerbread came when Sheeran played some music from singer-songwriter Passenger to his record label, but they passed on it, and Passenger then went on to have a worldwide number one hit with the record.
Sheeran also hopes his own fame will give the label an extra touch to give help to artists who don’t have the right platform to reach fans, he recently told Nova FM: “I’ve set up my first record label, it’s called Gingerbread and [British singer-songwriter] Jamie Lawson is my first signing. I wanted Australia to be the launch pad because Australia is a country that I feel would really really dig Jamie”.
