Rising vocalist and songwriter Ego Ella May has just released her debut album So Far. The album follows her signing to Tru Thoughts last year and it is smooth hip-hop and electronic beats blending about the importance of honesty.
Ego Ella May is a neo-soul artist from South London who has an all-encompassing love for music. “Music is freeing, healing and all things good and I’m here for it”.
Her neo-soul and contemporary jazz compositions have been gaining a lot of support recently, including the likes of Gilles Peterson from BBC 6Music – who included the young artist in his radio show ‘School of 2019’, Jamz Supernova from BBC 1Xtra, Bradley Zero, Mary Anne Hobbs from BBC 6Music and Chris P Cuts, among others.
Making a huge contrast with her previous recordings, So Far is a very intimate, personal work, in which Ego Ella May explores the importance of speaking from the heart and being honest.
The lead single “Tea & Sympathy”, which she previously released last month to announce the arrival of her new album, emphasises Ego Ella May’s future-soul vocals, accompanied by a beautiful mixture of smooth hip-hop and electronic beats through a flawless production from Budgie and Wu-Lu.
