Switzerland’s budding R&B talent, Jaywakeup, has released a riveting new single, “HiDE“. Drawing inspiration from a summer of memories and emotions, the track delves into the intricacies of a clandestine love affair.
The single serves as a highlight to his recently launched EP, IN2 U, which dropped on 11 August. “HiDE” stands out not just because of the story it narrates, but also due to its unique blend of early 2000s R&B and hip-hop. Layered upon this nostalgic mix is Jay’s contemporary signature sound, which he labels as “refreshing, rebellious, and innovative“.
Speaking of his approach to music, Jaywakeup commented, “My music is rebellious the way I aim for the unexpected. I always try to give my listeners a breath of fresh air.” This sentiment is palpable in “HiDE”, as he marries the familiar beats of classic RnB with a fresh perspective.
Hailing from Zurich, Jaywakeup’s journey in the music industry commenced as a producer and engineer. However, it was only in 2021 that he stepped into the limelight as an independent artist.
Despite being relatively new to this role, he has already made significant waves, garnering over half a million streams across various platforms. Beyond streaming success, he has opened shows for renowned Swiss artists like LieVin and Nativ and headlined five major events across Switzerland.
His music has found audiences in the US, Germany, Holland, and naturally, Switzerland. But with “HiDE” and the IN2 U EP, Jaywakeup is setting his sights beyond, aiming to resonate with a wider European audience.
