At the Grammys, Walt Disney Pictures unveiled a new trailer for the upcoming film Cruella starring Emma Stone as the mythical villain.
The trailer starts with a shot of the young Cruella (Estella), without her famous black and white hair and her dotted coat. Passionate about fashion, we then see her having a conversation with Baroness von Hellman, played by Emma Thompson, a very chic but also very terrifying fashion legend. In a series of events and relationships, Estella will gradually reveal her evil side until she takes on the role of Cruella.
“It’s a world of opportunity. And I was meant for more in this life. I want to make art, and I want to make trouble. I am woman, hear me roar”, says Estella in the trailer.
The plot is set in 1970s London, in the midst of the punk rock revolution, and is supposed to be a tale about the origins of the infamous Cruella de Vil in 101 Dalmatians. We see the evolution of Estella de Vil and how she becomes the famous villain.
In addition to Emma Stone as well as Emma Thompson, the Craig Gillespie-produced film stars Joel Fry, Paul Walter Hauser, Emily Beecham, and Mark Strong.
The new Disney film is scheduled to be released on May 28, watch the trailer below:
