With Emma Watson, Luke Evans and Dan Stevens all confirmed for Disney‘s live-action Beauty and The Beast remake; news of the flick’s smaller characters are coming in thick and fast! We recently heard that Frozen star Josh Gad would be playing Gaston’s best buddy, LeFou and now it seems Emma Thompson has been cast as Mrs. Potts and Kevin Kline will play Belle’s Father, Maurice.
Not only are we getting real glimpses of the cast’s brilliant talent but an official date for the film’s release has been set; March 17, 2017. We’ve got a while to wait for the film but Bill Condon seems pretty certain that they’ll be staying very true to the original story, unlike Kenneth Branagh‘s Disney remake for Cinderella, which hits theatres this month. Emma Thompson is a brilliant choice for the warm and comforting Mrs. Potts, who was originally voiced by the iconic Angela Lansbury and Kevin Kline is a fine choice for poor old Maurice. While I’m still not a huge fan of Disney’s live-action remakes, I have to admit; I’m loving the casting so far. I’m excited to see who will be playing the likes of Cogsworth and Lumiere next!
