Coming from a “galaxy far, far away”, your favourite Jedi is back to make your day! Ewan McGregor will return to the Star Wars universe to reprise his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in a Disney+ series.
Hollywood star Ewan McGregor has reportedly confessed he would love to play the role again in many different occasions, but now it seems like things have just got real.
According to Deadline, Disney has commissioned a new Star Wars project for their upcoming streaming platform Disney+. The original idea was to record a standalone film that followed the adventures of the iconic Jedi master, but the project ended up becoming a show.
Mcgregor made his debut as Obi-Wan Kenobi in 1999’s The Phantom Menace and kept playing the role in Alec Guiness’ two other prequels of the original George Lucas creation. Now, he is ready to grip his blue lightsaber and face the dark side one more time, 14 years after his last Star Wars appearance.
Details about the series plot or cast haven’t been unveiled yet, but fans have already took over social media platforms to share their excitement after the announcement. “Is the Ewan McGregor news true because I am going to faint and cry?” a fan asked on Twitter, while other said “Obi-Wan is my favourite character in the saga and if this is true there is still goodness in the universe. Please”.
Good luck with your new adventure Ewan, may the force be always with you!
