‘Fast And Furious: Hobbs & Shaw’ Tops US Box Office In Opening Weekend | Film News

Fast And Furious seems to be one of the greatest cinematic franchises of the 21st century. With spin-off Hobbs and Shaw heading for a £164 million opening weekend, Hollywood’s most audacious franchise has more than enough gas left.

The just released spin-off reunited Hobbs and Shaw, the two fan-favorite antagonist from the primary diegesis. The macho charm of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson as a diplomatic security service agent aka Luke Hobbs, and Jason Statham as a special forces officer aka Deckard Shaw provide a winning combination.

They really excel themselves here, taking the whole ‘Playground Insults’ love-hate relationship their characters enjoy and loathe to another level, with insult upon insult. However, they still united by their shared family values. Always the same message : family above all.

The two jackboots are opposed to the villain ‘black Superman’, played by Idris Elba, who has been genetically modified. A kind of cold technology versus humankind with love feelings.

At nearly two-and-a-half hours, the film is overlong. The combat montages, on the other hand, are maniacally edited. This franchise definitely has the secret to extending a film universe by opening up a world of narrative possibility just waiting to be explored.

And if you’re a big fan, don’t worry, the sequel is already programmed and will be realized in 2021.
