Daytime DJ and presenter Fearne Cotton has announced that she will be leaving BBC Radio One. She announced the departure via her official website yesterday (February 27) along with the news of a new baby on the way. After hosting Radio 1’s midday show for a decade, she will now be replaced by current official chart show host Clara Amfo. Cotton’s departure follows Zane Lowe’s announcement that he would be leaving the radio station to work with Apple. Annie Mac will now cover Lowe’s evening show, and the midday baton will be passed over to Clara in May following Radio 1’s Big Weekend.
Cotton wrote about her new baby and departure from Radio One saying, “Jesse and I are very happy to announce we are having another baby. I feel extremely blessed and happy that Rex will be a big brother, and we get to welcome another Wood into the world.””It has also been a time of big decisions and one I want to share with you now. After much time and careful thought I have decided to leave Radio 1 after 10 amazing years. I have had the most incredible decade broadcasting on Radio 1, meeting wonderful people, helping break artists and watching live music from the world’s best. However it is now time for a new chapter“.
