Kelly Osbourne Quits ‘Fashion Police’ Following Giuliana Rancic’s Racist Comment | TV News

Lilac-haired Brit Kelly Osbourne has resigned from her spot on E!’s Fashion Police following her co-host Giuliana Rancic’s racist comment on Zendaya Coleman’s hair at this year’s Oscar Awards after party. The show, formerly hosted by the late Joan Rivers, features a panel of judges reviewing celebrity fashion successes and failures. Upon reviewing the Oscar’s red carpet and after party fashion, E! regular Giuliana Rancic tried to weigh in on pop star and actress Zendaya Coleman’s dreadlocks saying “like I feel like she, she smells like patchouli oil. Or weed. Yeah, maybe weed“.

Zendaya Coleman responded to the comment by posting the following to her Instagram page.

Osbourne was infuriated by the comment from Rancic and expressed this by tweeting that she was “seriously questioning staying on the show“. Kelly’s mum Mrs Sharon Osbourne supportively tweeted her daughter saying “@Kellyosbourne, I am so proud of you. You can never be bought. You always wear your heart on your sleeve #proudtobeyourmum“. A friend of Kelly’s was quoted by The Mirror saying: “Kelly is a woman of principles, she was upset and horrified that someone would say something like that. She is an intelligent, bright woman with principles. Those principles were at the heart of her wanting to leave“.

Shortly after the incident, Rancic took to Twitter to apologize to Zendaya, with Zendaya accepting the apology and Kelly also commenting on her Twitter page saying, “It takes a strong women (sic) to apologize & makes a forgiving women even stronger! #ThisTooShallPass“. However it seems that’s not where the story ended as E! Entertainment have released a brief statement stating that Kelly Osbourne is leaving to “pursue other opportunities“.
