Focus Features has released the first trailer for the historical drama On The Basis Of Sex, which stars Felicity Jones as Ruth Bader Ginsburg. The film will chronicle the future Supreme Court Justice’s fight to bring a groundbreaking case before the U.S. Court Of Appeals in an attempt to overturn over a decade of gender-based discrimination.
The trailer above is extremely well put together and Jones looks to be an excellent fit as RBG. Although set in the past, the issues On The Basis Of Sex will revolve around clearly have major implications today, and the film is being released to coincide with Ginsburg’s 25th anniversary on the Supreme Court.
The film is directed by Mimi Leder (The Leftovers) and is written by Daniel Stiepleman. Alongside Jones, On The Basis Of Sex also stars Armie Hammer, Justin Theroux, Kathy Bates and Sam Waterston.
It was originally scheduled for release in November, before the studio pushed it back a month. On The Basis Of Sex will hit cinemas in a limited run on Tuesday, December 25, before going wide a few weeks later.
