Natalie Portman isn’t the first actress to take on the well-dressed First Lady. Other actresses who have donned Kennedy’s iconic pillbox hat include, Katie Holmes, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Ginnifer Goodwin, Minka Kelly and Roma Downey. Vanity Fair has now offered us a first look at Portman as Jacqueline Kennedy in the upcoming film Jackie.
The photo is stunning and sees Portman rocking a cherry-red ensemble and white pearls. Very classy. While there have been plenty films on the Kennedys. This film will take a different and more untravelled route, and focus on the movements of Jacqueline Kennedy after the assassination of her husband, President John F. Kennedy. Considering the subject matter, it won’t be an easy watch but Portman is a compelling actress and I’m sure she will do Kennedy justice.
Oscar-nominated director Pablo Larraín (No) will helm the film while Darren Aronofksy (Black Swan), Scott Franklin and Ari Handel are producing. The film also stars Peter Sarsgaard as Robert Kennedy, Greta Gerwig as one of the First Lady’s aides, and John Hurt. Jackie is currently filming in Paris, and is set to hit cinemas in 2017.
