While there’s currently a boom in adapting well known films into TV series, are we about to see a new trend emerge where shows are based on podcasts? That is exactly the origin of Amazon’s new anthology series Lore, which is based on the podcast of the same name, and debuted its first teaser for the series today, which you can watch below.
Lore the podcast has an average of five million monthly listens, and presents a series of frightening and disturbing tales based on real people that have led to our modern day myths and legends. It was named in the ‘Best Of’ lists by Apple in both 2015 and 2016, and series creator Aaron Mahnke will publish the first of a three book series, titled The World Of Lore, in October.
The show will combine documentary footage, cinematic scenes, mixed media and narration to bring to life the terrifying but true stories that made Lore so popular in the first place. It should be a haven for horror fans and fans of pop culture’s most legendary horror myths. The show stars Robert Patrick, Kristin Bauer van Stratten and Adam Goldberg.
Conrad Riggs, one of the heads of Amazon Originals, said: “Lore is a unique hybrid series that presents meticulously-researched true life tales through a variety of mediums, in order to surprise and delight, and even unsettle. We are thrilled to once again provide Prime members unprecedented access into a world they thought they knew”.
All six episodes of the show will premiere on Friday, October 13 on Amazon Prime Video.
