First Trailer For Dan Gilroy’s ‘Nightcrawler’ Follow Up, ‘Roman J. Israel, Esq.’ | Film Trailer

The first trailer has arrived for writer/director Dan Gilroy’s follow up film to his critically acclaimed directorial debut Nightcrawler, Roman J. Israel, Esq. The film stars Denzel Washington as the title character, a struggling lawyer whose lifelong quest for social justice comes crashing down when his partner suffers a heart attack.

He then decides to go to work for high-powered lawyer Colin Farrell, and must wrestle with keeping his crusade alive versus selling out and creating a better life for himself.

The trailer is a good one, not revealing too much and focusing on Roman’s plight as he must battle a dysfunctional legal system while also addressing racism and sexism and the moral grey area of using a broken system to your own advantage. The main draw is of course Washington, one of the most beloved actors around who looks to be in top form here.

Alongside Washington and Farrell, the film also stars Carmen Ejogo, Nazneen Contractor and Shelley Hennig. The film opens Friday, November 3, and if it even touches the greatness of Nightcrawler, we could be in for something special.
