The first trailer has arrived for action thriller The Commuter, which re-teams Liam Neeson with director Jaume Collet-Serra once again. Here, Neeson stars as an insurance salesman who finds himself embroiled in a criminal conspiracy after a mysterious stranger (Vera Farmiga) makes him a dangerous offer regarding a passenger on the train.

This is the fourth collaboration between Neeson and Collet-Serra, having previously made Unknown, Non-Stop and Run All Night together. The trailer above looks like your standard action fare, though Collet-Serra always has a knack of raising generic plots into something worthwhile, and Neeson remains one of the more watchable action stars.
However, this might be the last time we see either man working within the action genre. Collet-Serra is off to make studio movie The Jungle Cruise for Disney, which stars Dwayne Johnson, and Neeson recently expressed his desire to retire from the action genre.
Speaking at Toronto International Film Festival regarding his new drama, Mark Felt: The Man Who Brought Down The White House, Neeson said: “The thrillers, that was all a pure accident. They’re still throwing serious money at me to do that stuff. I’m like, ‘Guy’s I’m sixty-fucking-five.’ Audiences are eventually going to go, ‘Come on'”.
He mentioned that he may have one more action role in him, before he plans to retire. So enjoy Neeson kicking some ass while you can. The Commuter opens in cinemas on January 12, 2018.
