All good things must come to an end. Mediocre things, too. The Maze Runner series may have become the fifth highest grossing film series based on young adult books, but the trailer for the final installment of the trilogy, The Death Cure, looks like an advertisement for dystopian movies in general. There’s running, a sullen group in rags, more running, and lots of panning.
In the upcoming film, Thomas (Dylan O’Brien) leads the group of escaped Gladers on a final, dangerous mission to save their friends. To do so, they must break into the heavily fortressed Last City, perhaps the deadliest maze of all. Those who survive will finally discover the truth.
Petyr Baelish Aidan Gillen‘s character taunts ” you’re so close to the truth, don’t you want to know why this all happened?”, certainly promising some answers to the questions that have ran over the series.
Wes Ball returns as director, while Kaya Scodelario, Katherine Emmanuel, Rosa Salazar and Walton Goggins also rejoin the cast.
The trailer promises a January 26, 2018 debut in the US, but Maze Runner: The Death Cure will premiere in the UK on February 9. Watch the trailer below:
