British singer and creative artist FKA twigs has just released another taste of her upcoming album MAGDALENE that will be launched on November 8 via Young Turks. The new single is titled “Sad Day” and it is the fourth of the serie of songs released before the official launch of her album.
Her voice sings softly about a restless desire of love and being loved through the sad sensations of break up can end up in nothing more than bad days, hoping that a wish could change something into the daily monotony. She whispers her notes on a quiet synth and piano which accompany her voice in a sort of emulation. “I can imagine a world when my arms are embraced around you“, she sings in the end hopelessly.
This song belongs to one of the most awaited album of FKA Twigs, it is her first studio album since 2014’s LP1, and was created during a difficult period for the singer, in which she succeeded in finding the inspirational strength to carry on in her sufferings.
As she revealed in an interview about her album earlier this year: “I have always practiced my way into being the best I could be”, she continued, “but I couldn’t do that this time, I was left with no option but to tear every process down. But the process of making this album has allowed me for the first time, and in the most real way, to find compassion when I have been at my most ungraceful, confused, and fractured”.
At the moment, FKA Twigs is spreading her inspirational strong music through her North American tour, which will see her busy until November 20, with her last concert in Brooklyn.
