‘Fleabag’s Harry Bradbeer To Direct ‘Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine’ Movie

Harry Bradbeer, who previously won an Emmy for directing Fleabag, has been hired to direct the film adaptation of Gail Honeyman‘s novel Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine.

Writer Georgia Pritchett is penning the feature while Reese Witherspoon, who chose the novel as her Reese’s Book Club pick in 2017, will produce the film for Hello Sunshine alongside Lauren Neustadter.

The novel follows the titular Eleanor, a socially awkward office worker who keeps to herself. Her weekends are spent enjoying vodka and frozen pizzas, and she cares about little else other than her routine and a local singer that she believes to be her soulmate. When she meets an IT guy from work, secrets from her past begin to boil to the surface as she starts to step into her own.

Bradbeer seems like a smart choice here, as along with Fleabag he’s also got experience directing other female-led comedy dramas such as Killing Eve and Enola Holmes.

Pritchett also serves as an executive producer on Succession and Veep, and she’s currently the showrunner for the Apple TV+ comedy-drama series The Shrink Next Door.

There’s no other details right now, but expect plenty of actors to be interested in playing the quirky lead role.
