Florence + The Machine has just dropped a brand new track called “Call Me Cruella” that will soundtrack the new Disney film about Cruella, the iconic villain of the One Hundred And One Dalmatians
For this release Florence worked alongside Nicholas Britell, the compositor of the musical score of the upcoming movie.
The singer has seemed to be really delighted to be a part of this project as she stated that “Some of the first songs I ever learned how to sing were Disney songs”, and added that “The villains often got the best numbers. So to help create and perform a song for Cruella is the fulfillment of a long held childhood dream”.
Brittel also gave his opinion about this beautiful collaboration, and he revealed that he was honnoured to work with Florence Welch, as he is a massive fan of her work, and added that he really wanted to recreate the 60’s and 70’s feel of the original Disney animated cartoon, which is set in London.
The two musicians have chosen a rocky vibe and recorded all the track by using vintage gear at Abbey Road and AIR Studios in London. This track a is real blend of orchestral elements, with electric guitars and bass, keyboards and drums.
This musical score is a real work of art from the two musicians and we can’t wait to discover it in the film which stars Emma Stones as the iconic villain and is set to be released on May 28.
