MNet’s reality show Produce 101 sparked a phenomenon in South Korea last year, propelling eleven members chosen from a pool of 101 trainees from various entertainment companies to become the most successful rookie group of 2016.
After the show wrapped up April 2016, the group made its official debut as IOI on May 4, 2016 with the extended play album Chrysalis and actively promoted as both a whole group and as a sub-unit for less than a year. IOI disbanded at the end of January this year, but the time the group spent together as IOI still holds great meaning for the members and their fans.
Member So-hye shared photos of commemoration banners she’d seen around Seoul on IOI’s first year anniversary and captioned the photos with, “IOI’s 1 year anniversary. I want to cry seeing this in person. Let’s always win, IOI. Thank you so much for commemorating it.”
Despite the other members now part of different activities and groups, or gearing up to do so, it’s heartfelt to see them still cherish their time as IOI. Happy 1 year anniversary, IOI!
