While Hotel Artemis as a title doesn’t exactly conjure up the most vivid ideas, it’s hard not to be excited by this film considering the cast it is putting together. Having already cast Jodie Foster, Dave Bautista and Sofia Boutella, the sci-fi thriller has turned itself into an ensemble of stars.
Now signed on are Sterling K. Brown (The People v O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story), Charlie Day (It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia), Jenny Slate (Obvious Child) and Jeff Goldlblum, who seems to be signing on for every project possible right now (which is not a complaint, of course).
Written and directed by Drew Pearce (writer of Iron Man 3), Hotel Artemis is set in the near future and “follows a nurse (Foster) who runs an underground hospital for Los Angeles’ most sinister criminals, and finds that one of her patients is actually there to assassinate another”.
By that premise you can kind of put the pieces together that the new cast additions will likely be playing the criminals in the hospital, and the film begins to sound like an underground Con Air, only with more sci-fi and less action on the plate.
While no release date is currently set, Hotel Artemis will no doubt shoot toward the top of some ‘most anticipated’ lists. Pearce has a lot of talent at his disposal and hopefully it manifests into a great film.
