Spending time away from solo endeavours to collaborate with major artists including Ed Sheeran, Kent Jones and Sigala, Fuse ODG returns to the foreground with a fresh new sound that you need to hear. With his first official single of 2018 coming right in time for summer, “Island” might be the very song you didn’t know you were missing from your summer playlist.
Inspired by hearing Latin sounds through his recent travels, “Island” serves up a cocktail of Fuse’s irrepressible energy with a reggaeton flavour, rich with lively rhythms, salsa guitar riffs and infectious horns. Props to Yr$ Trly on the production. This new cut is a new direction for the Ghanaian artist and an exciting taster of what’s to come from his forthcoming second album.
Speaking on the new track, Fuse states: “It’s about a relationship that feels so good, so you keep going back. You know a relationship is toxic, but you keep going back because you have good memories of it. But once you’re there, you realise why you shouldn’t have returned.”
