With Hugh Jackman reportedly on his way out of 20th Century Fox‘s Mutant Franchise X-Men, with his last film being Wolverine 3, Fox has quickly been gearing up behind the scenes to create a new favourite hero by using the hugely popular Mutant Gambit and the star-power of Channing Tatum in the title role to do so.
And now Variety is reporting that Fox has found Gambit’s leading lady for Tatum’s first solo outing with Lea Seydoux (SPECTRE, Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, Inglorious Basterds) reportedly in ‘early negotiations […] to play Bella, the head of the Assassin’s Guild in the world of X-Men.’
The name Bella Donna Boudreaux will sound familiar to fans of the comics with the femme fatale proving a Arden combatant, occasional villain and frequent lover, all the while commanding the awesome power of an aggressive Assassin’s Guild.
Gambit is set to begin filming in Tatum’s home state of Louisiana in October with Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011) Rupert Wyatt at the helm with Tatum, Reid Carolin, Lauren Shuler Donner and Simon Kinberg producing.
