Possibly regarded as one of the best British sitcoms ever, it seems like the Jimmy Perry creation Dad’s Army will be hitting the big screen in 2016. The series was based during World War 2 in a fictional seaside town where a group of Home Guard local defence volunteers are preparing for a German invasion.
Bill Nighy will take on the role of Sergeant Wilson, originally performed by John Le Mesurier, Michael Gambon will play Private Godfrey and Toby Jones as Captain Mainwaring. There’s also a host of female characters joining the cast including Catherine Zeta-Jones, Sarah Lancashire, Emily Atack and Alison Steadman. The film is scheduled to be released on February 5, 2016 in the UK and US, even though this is an unknown title to the US audience.
